Some young bands with singing guitarists could take example from Axel Rudi Pell – he teaches us that it’s possible that somebody else sings but only non-singing guitarist remains main hero. If any guitarist doesn’t know how to impress others with voice then it’s better to find another person with proper technique and make focus on instrument. It works especially in hard rock / heavy metal where awesome riffs and solos are widely appreciated.

Axel Rudi Pell used to release new album every two years or even more often. He doesn’t have any 2 consecutive years in his 30 years long music career without new solo album. Now we can pick and choose among 18 longplays and each of them belongs consistently to hard rock / heavy metal genres. One of the best “Magic” (if not the best) was created in 1997 – apparently trend for grunge didn’t disturb him to compose in traditional rock style.

The newest album “Knights Call” (2018) is my favorite Axel’s output since “Kings and Queens” (2004). It’s really a great set of songs.

Time will tell what will happen on the next LP since Axel Rudi Pell announces the successor to be released in April 2020 (band works in studio around the end of 2019). Sounds exciting! After that Axel is going for (two parts) tournee around Europe.

Find your city on the list below and celebrate Axel’s show. Keep reading in case when he doesn’t plan to visit your place as I prepared perfect solution for this circumstance!

On the road to rock ‘n’ roll
Deep in our hearts and in our souls
This attitude towards life will go on

One shot of adrenalin
Sometimes with a touch of sin
We never surrender, staying strong

Axel Rudi Pell “Long Live Rock”

How easy it is for fan who lives in Estonia, Iceland, Brazil, USA, United Kingdom or Japan to watch Axel Rudi Pell’s show in 2020? I can imagine that she/he doesn’t. Just no.

“Axel is my idol but he won’t visit my country so I will watch on YouTube”.

I live in Iceland and my Grandmother in Poland. Shall I tell to her by phone: “Well, we are family but you will not visit Iceland so let’s talk only by phone” ? Shall I?

Axel will be 59 during first part of upcoming tournee and 60 during second part. That’s the age when most people think about retirement albeit they are still powerful enough to work hard.

“As long as I am healthy and the fire still burns inside of me, I will keep going. I have the support of my wife for the last 12 years, which is very important to me. And it also depends on the public.” – said Axel Rudi Pell during interview for Headbangers Lifystyle.

You know what each true fun suppose to do: go there and enjoy. That’s it. Allow yourself to have great time.

Hey, the most difficult part of getting to Axel Rudi Pell’s concert is a decision. Right, you need to buy a ticket, book a hotel, get there with bus/train/plane. But please, it is easy. The only one obstacle on your way is that you not always say: “rock’n’roll, make it”. I believe that now is the moment to scream YEAH MAKE IT!!!

Raise your fists in the air
And feel the beat of the drum
So shout it out loud

Long live rock (long live rock)
United we stand together
Long live rock

Axel Rudi Pell “Long Live Rock”

1. Ticket – buy only from reliable vendors like this or this.

2. Hotel – there are countless options and it actually doesn’t need to be a hotel. You need accomodation which fits to your budget and style. It can be only for your benefit to read reviews of all of these places to stay here. Then you can book it here.

3. Transportation – it really depends on where you will travel from. Feel free to write an e-mail to me if you need free assistance I will point you out right connection.

4. Attractions, tours, tickets to enter landmarks, unique activities – this is optional, only if you want to enjoy the visited city itself (I recommend to read first before purchasing).

Lordi is about to release newest, tenth studio album “Killection (A Fictional Compilation Album)” on January 31st, 2020, featuring new bassist Hiisi. Therefore, I recommend to get know some of their fresh creative output:

source: rock n metal

It would be surrealistic expensive to travel abroad just to see a concert. Even if Lordi is your favorite band ever, I suggest you to choose attractive city and sightseeing a bit. It is beneficial for you to make careful preparation because who knows when will you be in the same place again and you definitely don’t want to meet best attractions, do you?

I want to make it clear that I am not able at the moment to offer you all inclusive package of holidays because there would be some law cases and tax cases to obey. I would rather encourage you to prepare your trip on your own. I will show you below how to do that. I will give you also an example of Dutch trip including Lordi’s concert. You can always send me an e-mail if you have questions and I will try to help you and answer the best as I can:

You need:

1. transportation from your home to your hotel (it depends what is your departure point but this website is handy to commute inside Nederland),

2. room in hotel; click to read reviews first but keep in mind that:

a) most hotels located arond Schiphol Airport offer free and easy to use shuttle;

b) usually ratio quality:price is much better in hotels located in proximity of Amsterdam but not in the city itself

c) Holland is compact and its public transportation is reliable,

d) standard fare for night in 3 stars hotel is between 62euro and 103 euro / night (according to Musictivity calculations)

3. concert ticket (it is important to buy only from reliable source like Eventim or official Lordi website),

4. guide on place (I can not offer you personal assistance 24/7 but there are countless guides available on site – read more),

5. travel insurance (it is not expensive and protect you against unexpected events).

Overwhelming? Well, I’m writing this article on December, 23th, 2019 and I just got an idea to contact with some travel agencies. I would love to prepare convenient package for you. It would be even better to travel in bigger group of fans with assistance from experienced company, I guess.

Just an example to let you know what is possible to do beside concert.

Amstelveen is a residential area adjacent from south to Amsterdam (capital of the Netherlands), few kilometers east from Schiphol International Airport.

Although there is some art to see in Amstelveen (Cobra Museum of Modern Art) I wouldn’t call this town a cultural destination for foreign travelers. Amstelveen is a home for people who work in Schiphol or in bank / insurance / commerce corporations in Amsterdam South’s business park. Subway & tram line cross entire Amstelveen so you can commute directly between Amsterdam and Amstelveen with ease (alternatively you can take a car ride or biking).

Japanese friend of mine told me that Amstelveen is the same for Japanese minority in the Netherlands as Dusseldorf for Japanese minority in Germany. They have own shops, own barber and even own school for children of Japanese expats –everything located exactly in Amstelveen. Interesting but I have much more to share with you.

I decided to show you that the Netherlands is not only Amsterdam through presenting carefully selected videos from YouTube, weet u wel. Everything what you can see below is high quality and display awesome places which you can reach with direct public transport from Schiphol Internetional Airport (according to I give you links only to these videos which are worth it in my personal opinion.

Let’s assume that I have 6 business days off work, found nice hotel in Schiphol and don’t want to spend more than one day in any town. In this case, this would be my itinerary (flying on 21th March and on 30th March):

22th March, Sunday

Den Haag: Madurodam

Den Haag: Mauritshuis & Binnenhof

Den Haag: Escher in Het Paleis

Den Haag: Peace Palace Peace Palace

23th March, Monday

Sure, good notes, good quality instruments, cool shows, but you know what? Jared James Nichols needs to cover many countries and many cities to catch your attention. You simply will not take vacation at work, buy a plane ticket neither book a night in hotel just to see good blues rock concert.

If I’m mistaken and you will do that, please let me know in comment so I will be happy to update entire article just for you. I can even advise you on-line how to proceed; seriously, just send me an e-mail:

However, I guess that announcement of young fresh artist’s concert isn’t a sufficient trigger to take this kind of decision. I live in Iceland and potential show of Jared James Nichols during (for instance) Secret Solstice 2020 could be truly exciting. I would love to take a ten minutes walk and have fun with his music. But I will not take a plane from Keflavik with aim to see a concert. Sorry. Will not.

Why Jared James Nichols won’t play in your place? Well, he would play almost everywhere on our Planet Earth, just give him a guitar, he loves it, he would play!

Commuting is a core of the problem. Musician travels to these places which promoter books. Fan travels to places abundant with landmarks and attractions. Try it then!

Zo… what? Some random string of syllables? Even official poster states: Zeotermeer instead of Zoetermeer. Does it have anything common with terms used in fourth season of Power Rangers (ZEO)?

Saban's Power Rangers At San Diego Comic-Con 2017 : News Photo

Nope. But Zoetermeer is perfectly located exactly in the middle way between:

– The Hague and Gouda,

– Leiden and Rotterdam.

Distance between Zoetermeer and all of these 4 cities is merely 20 km. It takes seconds to get there with train and the speedway joining Zoetermeer with administrative capital of Nederland (The Hague) is one of the oldest in the world (1937). By the way, did you know that:

– the first “speedway” (it was short in the beginning) have been created around Berlin, Germany (1921),

– the first contemporary speedway have been created around Milan, Italy (1923).

It makes sense now to plan a trip in the middle of the week (Wednesday) to Zoetermeer and attend to concert of Jared James Nichols.

Let me clarify. After reading this article you can consider:

However, if you live in Europe, I would strongly recommend to take a trip to Czech Republic, France or England. These countries have a lot of attractions to offer besides rock concerts. It would be really beneficial for you to write down itinerary extending beyond the Aerosmith show.

Feel welcome to read brief introduction to Paris and London on Musictivity. These cities are overwhelming so I guide you throw best rocks concerts and help you to easily approach local cultural attractions over there.

When it comes to Czech Republic, keep reading this article.

Prague, Charles Bridge, Historically, City

Prague is a popular tourist destination with reliable infrastructure, you could rather afraid of crowds than anything else while going there for city break or even longer holidays. You can get there with bus, train or plane

No problem to find nice and affordable hotels.

The best way to discover highlights of major European cities is to take a part in tour with professional guide who would share his cultural fascinations with you. Prague is one of the most charming city in central Europe with:

– its majestic bridges,

– beautiful old town,

– impressive castle. Sandeman is an international company which help you to contact with great guides who make their best to show and explain impressive places to you because their salary depends entirely on your tips. You can book this kind of tour here:

However it would be incomplete experience because you wouldn’t know well Prague without additional visit to Prague Castle.

The importance of this castle derives from the fact that it is the largest building of its kind in the world (70 000 square metres). By the way it’s also one of the most luxurious residence for President who isn’t a King.

I felt lucky when I was able to buy a ticket for castle tour during break in the walking tour. It’s only eleven euros so you should to book it in advance here

The Prague Castle Walking Tour finishes in the spot with panoramic view over the city. After that you can take a walk to “small Eiffel” called Petrin Tower and admire picturesque landscapes. Although funicular railway seems to be a convenient option to get there, I would recommend to stroll through Petrin Gardens.

The main idea of Musictivity website is to get a guide through upcoming concerts to explore unique cities. This time I would like to make focus on Paris.

Paris is considered as a most culturally, philosophically and socially developed city in the world.

However, Paris is not Amsterdam (so good!), you can not loosely speak in English to all people around, customers aren’t treated with sweat WELKOM and all buildings seem to look somehow… well, uncolorful.

You need to prepare well before going to Paris. Would be perfect to know what exactly you like to see and what you are interested in. It might be not enough to write a bucket list: Louvre, Disneyland, Eiffel, Arc of Triumph and Versailles.

Only one Louvre contains 380 000 artistic and historical objects! I wouldn’t see the original Low Code Stele of Hammurabi without prior preparation and this inostensible piece of stone was the most spectacular object which I’ve learned about in Paris.

It’s necessary to search informations also about other museums in Paris before going there for holidays. Good example: self-portrait of Van Gogh in Musse D’Orsay, such an iconic masterpiece (1889)!

Another easy to miss object is a following sculpture. If you crave to spend quality time in Paris then you need to know who (and why?) is riding a horse in front of Versaille. Sure, good guide will tell you everything, but you don’t need to feel overwhelmed.

Make a detailed list of few (not too many!) masterpieces which you would love to see in Paris. Regardless how many days are you going to spend in Paris, you aren’t able to experience everything what is worth your attention.

First ice breaking word which you need to use during contact with French people is “bonjour”. Even if you don’t speak French at all, you simply need to start any kind of conversation with this French word. Bonjour. Bonjour. Bonjour. There are some other polite expressions which are nice to remember but this one seems to be most essential: bonjour 🙂

Looking for a decent hotel in Paris? Let’s check what is available in Montmartre or in Marais first as I think that these areas are the best to find a hotel for cultural tourists. Click on the banner below and you will be redirected to reliable Agoda.

Remember to always keep some coins in your pocket as not every vendor accept debt/credit cards.

Once I asked for a crepe in the middle of a park, nice man started to preparing but then I realized that I have no coins. I asked him to wait a minute until I will find an ATM and in this case I didn’t need to eat but I felt obligated to pay. He answered let it be a gift.

Another time I was in rush from Versaille to train station so I picked a quick meal in KFC (haha). I booked an order using a machine, not at counter. But generous staff informed me that this kind of sandwich is not available at the moment so I can choose another one and get a free drink. I thanked and grabbed just an another sandwich. It was OK for me.

And the last case was in luxurious Gallery Lafayette. I ordered some macarons from Pierre Herme and they let me taste one experimental flavor for free.

I wouldn’t call Parisian greed. At least not when I remember “bonjour” 😉

The Last Internationale will visit Paris not for the first neither for the last time but tasting mouthwatering macarons is always a great idea! It seems that they will not have a time to explore Paris during tournee but this attraction isn’t time consuming!

Otherwise, if somebody is hungry then she/he might be angry; don’t be angry in the City of Love!

Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons

Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons

Phil Campbell is Phil Campbell. Welsh guitarist known from over 30 years playing in Motorhead (everything since “Orgasmatron”).

Lemmy passed in 2015.

Phil Campbell continues career with new musicians as Phil Campbell & the Bastard Sons and also released new solo album in October 2019.

source: Voy 99

I heard Motorhead for the first time around “Inferno” in 2004 and it’s my favorite album featuring Phil Campbell. I remember wearing T-shirt with “Inferno” cover in front and Lemmy + Phil Campbell + Mikkey Dee on the back. Rock’n’roll live forever and Motorhead will stay with us until resurrection of Jesus. But Motorhead can not play new stuff without Lemmy. As simple as that, no Lemmy – no new Motorhead. These albums and concerts where Phil Campbell played on guitars are timeless and irreplaceable indeed because of Lemmy \m/

Motorhead’s drummer Mikkey Dee joined Scorpions in 2016.

Motorhead’s guitarist Phil Campbell is creating own music. You know, nothing new – Bastard Sons album “The Age Of Absurdity” (2018) presents good, old school, ass kicking rock’n’roll with modern sound. Not really aggressive metal, definitely not soft shit, just traditional dynamic hard rock with proper riffs & groove. Listenable songs for all Motorhead’s fans.

Young vocalist Neil Starr makes his job alright. He is a friend of Phil Campbell and he has no problem to perform in front of large audiences. I can say with confidence that Neil Starr doesn’t irritate, doesn’t try to copy Lemmy, doesn’t pretend fucking rock adolescent star. Perhaps there are some people who will never accept anybody else on vocal than Lemmy when Phil Campbell plays on guitar. I don’t care, for me Neil Starr is ok. There are many melodies and catchy fragments on “The Age Of Absurdity” and Neil Starr sings that well. Just check out full Bastard Sons’ performance from Wacken Open Air 2016 so you will get what I’m talking about 🙂 It’s too long for embedding on Musictivity so grab your link and enjoy .

London is one of these cities, where you don’t ask “what can I do here?” but you choose “what I want to do”. It depends on your preferences, but also on number of times when you have already visited London and on other people from your group. Well, season is also a factor.

Around 9 million people live in London in 2019 on around 1,600 km^2. We can compare it to:

– Austria (whole country) 9 million people, 82,400 km^2,

– New Jersey (State), 9 million people, 8,7000 km^2,

– Bangkok, 8,3 million people, 1,600km^2.

Keeping density of London in mind, public transportation in this city is impressive, but still many attractions are located in different parts of London and it takes time to commute. You should to consider that during planning your itinerary.

Sidenote: If you go to London with intension to see Phil Campbell And The Bastard Sons on April 19, 2020, better prepare for hot temperatures, what stays in contradictions to popular stereotype about English weather; it might be rather a blossom spring!

I took some time to find the right video which encompass contrasts in different London’s traits. It’s short and dynamic:

Some of the greatest NWOBHM bands come from London:

– Iron Maiden,

– Praying Mantis,

– Angel Witch,

– Girlschool,

– Tank.

NWOBHM was strong in English capital 40 years ago. What happened with this scene since then? Young heavy metal band Primitai from London answers on this question during interview for Musictivity.

I’m aware that thousands of Motorhead fans will read that, so I would like to use this opportunity to recommend few underrated but excellent young band from London:

– Primitai,

– Seven Sisters,

– Amulet.

Give them a chance!

Current Deep Purple line-up:

– Ian Gillan (vocals),

– Ian Paice (drums),

– Roger Glover (bass),

– Steve Morse (guitars),

– Don Airey (keyboards, organ).

How do you feel with this? We had already 17 years to accept this fact. Too many things around us on the world are straight so remember about joy and have fun with Deep Purple in 2020!

This team released four studio albums:

– “Bananas” (2003),

– “Rapture of the Deep” (2005),

– “Now What?!” (2013),

– “Infinite” (2017).

In my opinion “Now What?!” is not only the best album among these four longplays but also the best one since “Perfect Strangers”. It’s a fine example of contemporary hard rock created by old school masters.

Ian Gillan said recently for NME: “(…) absorb as much as you can from as wide spectrum as you can (…) If you do that then it will stand you in good stead for the rest of your life”.

That’s exactly what reading Musictivity gives you.

Current Deep Purple’s label earMUSIC presents the official music video to “Vincent Price”. Take a note the scenery comes from Dungeon in Berlin, Germany. I’ve been there are I can recommend this particular Dungeon for truly engaging and bloodcurdling spectacle.

Then you are welcome to watch “All I Got Is You” in sake of getting know the newest album “Infinite”. It’s a great idea to hark to this music before going for concert.

There’s still a long way to go
And the nights are closing in
But if I’d traveled any faster babe
Lord knows where I might have been

Right from those early days
I put my faith in the axle not the wheels
Like old Zeno’s toytus
with Achilles snapping at my heels

Deep Purple “All the Time in the World”

Hamburg is not quite German city because citizens of Hamburg used to underline the historical status of Free and Hanseatic City of Hamborg and many of them still feel free and independent as Hamburgians, not as Germans.

Some highlights about Hamburg:

– Nickname of Hamburg is “Gateway to the world”, due to its port (the second largest harbor in Europe after Rotterdam);

– The Beatles created the most famous rock band ever in Hamburg during their student times;

– Kontorhausviertel was the first business district in the world (before Dutch/American New York);

– Hamburg is a media capital of Germany (17 000 companies in advertising, publishing, print, broadcasting, music, TV and film sectors);

– Elbphilharmonie is the most beautiful music venue which I have ever seen;

– Speicherstadt is the largest warehouse complex in the world;

– Miniatur Wunderland is the largest rail model in the world, open for public from 2001.

Miniatur Wunderland is a perfect combination of technology and art which guarantee truly great fun for everybody. Exhibition is interactive, divined for several creative sections about different countries (i.e. Germany, Switzerland, Italy, USA, group of Scandinavian countries)
and include:

– 260 000 figures,

– 42 moving planes,

– 9250 cars moving cars,

– 1040 moving trains,

– 1380 signals,

– 4110 buildings,

– around 15 400 meters long rail track.

You can find it in exactly the same building as Hamburg Dungeon, Theater Kehrwieder and theater Stage Entertainment, just 500 metres from stunning Elbphilharmonie.

Miniatur Wunderland allows you to see in person how hundreds talented employees consistently improve elements of exhibition and make sophisticated plans for future. Perhaps one of most breathtaking newest pieces of art which I ever saw in person.

Generally Hamburg is not a popular tourist destination but highly appreciated among people who already visited this city.

Airbourne 2020

Young and wild hard rock’n’roll band Airbourne is fulfilling concert halls all over the world.

They will perform as special guests during Alice Cooper’s tournee in Australia and New Zealand in the beginning of 2020, then play 2 shows in USA and go to Europe with Iron Maiden (some gigs during Legacy of the Beast Tour 2020).

More about Iron Maiden 2020.

Airbourne is inspired mostly by AC/DC and Motorhead but I hear also musical (only musical) similarity to Motley Crue, Armored Saint and WASP because these old school bands are loud, screaming and kick-ass. It’s all about sex and rock’n’roll.

Discosure: I use affiliate links and banners. When you buy something using link from this website, price stays exactly the same for you but I receive a small commission which supports Musictivity. Peruse full privacy policy:

Airbourne has released five longplays:

– “Runnin Wild” (2007),

– “No Guts, No Glory” (2010),

– “Black Dog Barking” (2013),

– “Breakin Outta Hell” (2016),

– “Boneshaker” (2019).

Current line-up features Joel O’Keeffe (guitars, vocals), Ryan O’Keeffe (drums), Matt Harrison (guitars), Justin Street (bass).

Airbourne was created in 2003 in Warrnambool, town in south east Australia, around 250-300 kilometers west from Melbourne.

People living there enjoy access to nice Logan Beach with opportunity to watch whales each year between June and September. They can also practice water sports in AquaZone (the largest facility in South West Victoria).

Later Airbourne decided to move to Melbourne. While Angus Young from AC/DC is known with his habit to drink ten cups of tea each day (sometimes he chooses chocolate milk instead), Melbourne is the world capital of coffee. I just see Joel O’Keeffe running on scene and wonder how many cups of coffee he used to drink each day? 😉

Barcelona, Spain, Fountain, Water, Drops, Sun, Summer

Musictivity wouldn’t be complete without mentioning Barcelona, the capital of Catalan. There are at least few reasons why this city is so popular among tourists:

The cap’s a bangin’ on the door
But up here there’s no law
We got an endless mini bar
There’s a television on the sqad car
We’re mixing sugar and spice

Airbourne “Party In The Penthouse”

There are thousands of Blogs and Websites which describe Barcelona better than I ever could. I’m not even sure if the list above is complete – it could include long Barcelona’s history or something.

Barcelona was the first holidays destination in my life. I’d a pleasure to spend there first half of March 2017.

I’m traveling constantly from this time! Ten visited country only in 2019!

Now is December 2019 and I’m already keeping in my mailbox 8 plane tickets and hotel reservations in Athens and Barcelona (again), but at the same time I’m certain that my May of 2020 will belong to Asia: Philippines (I have family in Philippines), Thailand and something else (would prefer Japan and South Korea but if my family won’t get VISA, we will go somewhere else like Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam).

The point is that experienced travelers develop skills which allow them to travel smarter.

I can really see strong difference between my preparations, tools which I know and use, habits during journey in March 2017 and December 2019. I would call it a competence to get around unknown cities.

You are welcome to e-mail me or leave a comment below this article. Ask whatever you want, I will try to give you the best answer as I can.

Oftentimes, my friends get links from me to articles which answer on their questions and reduce uncertainty. I can even make special research for you and publish the result in form of separate article (as I’ve made regarding Arnhem and Oslo – look at category “travel” in menu).

However, I hope that you will find the most basic and available info in Google on your own. Big advantage of traveling is that you learn self-organization along the way.

Get access to best on-line hotel browser, exciting guide trips selection, largest store with official and licensed merch, most reliable ticket retailer just in one place!

I can completely understand if you are not ready to travel because I also wasn’t before March 2017. Fortunately, you don’t need to pay for watching Barcelona!

source: ThinLineMedia

I would like to add at the end that hopefully Aussie from Airbourne will have fun in Barcelona and other visited cities. Europe is friendly, compact and widely open for you!
